As meninas: na esquerda, Ana, uma cartografa Francesa, que saiu com sua BMW 650 do Alaska até Ushuaia e terminará a viagem no Rio. No centro, Tania, a esposa do Manolo e na direita, Monica, minha namorada.

Picture nr. 3: In Argentina, sometimes you have too many km between the gas stations, and the heavy winds forced us to be more careful, so we bought 10 liters from a man on the side of the road.
Na Argentina, as vezes temos mais de 300 km sem postos de gasolina, e com o vento contra muito forte, consumimos muito mais que o planejado. Sendo assim, compramos 10 litros de um borracheiro na beira da estrada.

Picture 4 and 5 : Ushuaia. Have a look at the map, on the south tip of the south American continent and you will understand why this is a magical place.
Ushuaia. veja no mapa, e entenderão, porque este lugar atrai tanta curiosidade. fica no paralelo 56, e apenas 1000 km ao norte da antartica.

Picture 7 and 8 : Monica riding my bike. I made a joke with her that this would be a test, to ride with me for near 7000 km, under the most dificult conditions. We crossed frezing temperatures, Ripio roads ( gravel and stone + dirt roads)lots of wind, forcing us to ride sideways on the bike, etc. I said if she passed all that. we will merry. I think I am in trouble now...

Monica pilotanto minha moto. Eu brinquei com ela que isto era um teste, e se ela aguentasse as temperaturas geladas de Ushuaia, a chuva fria, a poeira, as estradas de pedra, as longas horas andando pendurados de lado para nos protegermos do vento impressionante que sopra na Patagonia, eu casaria com ela... Acho que não tenho escapatoria agora...Monica tem não só resistido bravamente, como me surpreende a cada dia, não só pela bravura, mas pelo bom humor com que enfrenta as adversidades de uma empreitada cansativa como esta.

In Argentinin hat man manchmal zu große km-Abstände zwischen den Tankstellen, und die starken Wind veranlassten uns vorsichtiger zu sein. So kauften wir 10 Liter von einem Mann am Straßenrand.

Bild 4 und 5:
Ushuaia. Ein Blick in die Karte auf den Süden des amerikanischen Kontinents und man versteht, warum dies eine so magischer Ort ist. Nur 1000 km vom Norden der Antarktis entfernt!

Bild 7 und 8:
Monika fährt mein Motorrad. Ich machte einen Spaß mit ihr, dass dies ein Test sei, mit mir weitere fast 7000 km unter schwierigsten Bedingungen zu fahren. Wir durchfuhren Minus-Temperaturen, unbefestigte Straßen (Schotter und Steine und schmutzige Straßen), viel Wind, der uns zwang seitwärts auf dem Motorrad zu sitzen, etc. Ich sagte ihr, wenn sie all das bestehen würde, würden wir heiraten. Ich glaube, ich bin jetzt in Schwierigkeiten...
